What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser Hair Removal is a highly effective and proven method to permanently reduce unwanted hair on the face and body.

We use the ‘Gold Standard’ Cynosure Elite + laser machine which can be used on all skin types safely and can be used anywhere on the body where there is enough pigment in the hair. Laser hair removal is a great alternative to traditional methods of hair removal such as, waxing, shaving, threading and epilating, ultimately saving you time and money.

Frequently asked questions

  • Best practice in laser hair removal

    • Inform us of any medical changes you may have and any new medications you may be taking as some can cause photosensitivity.
    • Shave the area you’re having treated 24 hours beforehand.
    • Protect the skin with SPF 50 throughout the course of treatments on areas that are exposed to sunlight e.g. face and arms.
    • Use Aloe Vera gel for 2-3 days after treatment to help soothe the area if necessary.
    • Throughout your course of laser hair removal it is important to not use any tanning beds or tanning products. If you have been exposed to high levels of sunlight, we may recommend delaying your next treatment until your skin has reverted back to its original colour.
    • If you have any medical changes please let your practitioner know before your next laser hair removal treatment as it may mean we need to delay your appointment.
    • For the first 24-48 hours after your treatment it is important to not use any heat treatments such as sauna and steam rooms. It is also advised to not exercise or use swimming pools.
    • In between your treatments it is important to not remove your hair follicles such as, waxing, tweezing and epilating as this will make your treatment less effective. We advise you to only shave if you need to.

Contact our expert laser hair removal consultants to learn more about the procedure.

  • How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal uses a concentrated beam of light that targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy being produced is converted into heat, which heavily reduces the ability of the hair follicle to grow hair.

  • Is laser hair removal safe?

Laser hair removal is safe; it is designed to only target the hair follicle and not the surrounding skin. However, after your treatment, it is completely normal to have swollen hair follicles and redness to the skin, this should subside within a couple of days.

As we use the Cynosure® Elite laser, we can treat all skin types as well as men and women.

Laser hair removal can treat Hirsutism and can minimise symptoms of PCOS syndrome.

  • How many sessions do I require?

Using the Cynosure® Elite laser, the treatment is faster than standard laser hair removal treatments. The results are permanent and can be typically experienced in as little as 6 treatments, saving you time and money.

Contact our expert laser hair removal consultants to learn more about the procedure.

  • How often do I have a treatment?

Initially, you will be advised to have your treatments every 4 to 6 weeks. Further into your course of treatment this may be changed depending on your hair growth.

  • Does laser hair removal hurt?

Our laser machine is virtually pain free, however, on more sensitive areas of your skin you may feel a little discomfort.

Therefore for optimum client comfort, we use a cooling mechanism alongside the laser and apply cool aloe vera gel after the treatment.
