What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a deep exfoliation facial where we use a surgical scalpel at a 45 degree angle to remove the build up of any dirt, oil and dead skin. Dermaplaning also works to remove any vellus hair also known as “peach fuzz”. After your treatment your skin will feel ultra-smooth and rejuvenated creating a perfect base for make-up application.

Frequently asked questions

  • Will my vellus hair grow back coarser?

The hair is removed at a 45 degree angle which does not interrupt the hair cycle, the root or hair type. Once your hair starts to grow back it may feel slightly different initially, but it will return back to its original state.

Contact our expert dermaplaning consultants to learn more about the procedure.

  • How often can I have Dermaplaning?

It is recommended to have this treatment every 4 weeks to maintain results

  • Are there any side effects?

Dermaplaning is a safe procedure with very little downtime. During your Dermaplaning treatment your skin is stretched to reduce the risk of nicking the skin with the scalpel. Post-treatment your skin may be slightly red, but this usually does not last longer than a couple of hours. Like with any manual exfoliation treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure so it is important that you wear SPF 50 daily post-treatment.

  • Is Dermaplaning suitable for everyone?

Dermaplaining is suitable for most, however, we recommend you see our experienced aestheticians for a consultation prior to booking a treatment if you are currently experiencing any acne.

  • Can I wear make-up straight after my treatment?

It is not recommended to apply any make-up for at least the first 24 hours post-treatment.
